KBG Chamber’s civil group provides an established team of dedicated barristers who offer a broad range of experience and depth in civil matters. Our approach is to become an integral part of the client’s legal team.
We have built and developed strong working relationships with our solicitors, who regularly instruct members to advise and appear at every stage of litigation. In addition too solicitors we receive instructions from other professionals
via licensed access.
Traditionally the majority of our instructions originate from the South West. As the civil group has grown and developed, we have seen a dramatic increase of instructions for insurer client work from leading solicitors based all over the UK. These include Zurich, Royal Sun Alliance, Norwich Union and Post Office Insurance.
Members of the criminal group are also experienced in other areas of criminal and similar work such as courts martial, regulatory offences and cases heard by professional disciplinary tribunals. KBG Chamber criminal group work encompasses the full range of criminal procedure and litigation.
We have particular expertise in murder, sexual offences and other cases involving vulnerable witnesses, offences of serious violence, serious fraud, corporate and financial crime, customs and revenue offences, drugs offences and money laundering work.
KBG Chambers has a very well-established family law practice group, and members deal with all aspects of family law matters. Counsel practice in all tiers of the Family Court, in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Our Family Barristers offer thorough and conscientious preparation and combine this with outstanding advocacy skills to assist in achieving the best outcomes for clients. All members understand that each case is important to the client and recognise that there are often both monetary and emotional consequences of Court proceedings.
The Family Group is able to rely upon the expertise of colleagues specialising in other areas of law including in immigration, housing, welfare benefits, mental health, community care and crime. This can offer obvious advantages in many areas of family law.
Our Group has strength in its numbers and the depth of experience offered by its members. Counsel are very frequently involved in some of the most serious, high profile cases in the region and are regularly instructed in very complex matters. We are equally committed to cases in the lower courts where the outcome for the clients is just as significant. We consider that client care is extremely important, and members are very willing to go the extra mile for lay clients and to work closely with our solicitors. Due to our numbers we are usually able to offer suitable Counsel for all types of matters.
