All of KBG Chambers’ Civil Mediators are fully qualified barristers who have obtained accredited qualifications in Civil/Commercial mediation and who are members of the Civil Mediation Council. The Mediation Team has an unwavering commitment to professional excellence and includes a number of highly experienced mediators who are at the forefront of their profession, including the Legal 500 Tier-1 recommended Rawdon Crozier and Andrew Willetts as well as the knowledgeable, experienced, and highly praised Charlotte Davies and James Jarvis. Members of KBG’s Mediation Team have vast amounts of experience as advocates for Claimants and Defendants at all types of mediations, as well as experience conducting mediations as the mediator. Through significant involvement in both sides of the mediation process throughout their careers (both as advocates and as mediators), the Mediation Team know how to deliver cost-effective, efficient, and extremely valuable mediation services that go above and beyond in all cases. 

Bespoke Mediation Service

KBG Chambers recognises that mediation, like Court hearings, needs more than a “one size fits all” approach. Accessibility, flexibility, and positive practical outcomes are the great benefits of mediation that are often overlooked by other providers. At KBG Chambers, every mediation, no matter its value or complexity, is given the utmost professionalism and energy by every member of our Mediation Team, who work tirelessly to help parties reach settlement or to achieve other positive outcomes as part of the mediation process. As well as travelling across the South West and beyond to attend mediations, Chambers Mediation Team also hosts mediations through online platforms such as Teams and Zoom as well as in-person at our modern and prestigious Chambers in Royal William Yard, Plymouth. Chambers has a number of private, sound-proofed conference rooms which can accommodate mediations teams of all sizes for both the joint and private sessions involved during a mediation. Catering and refreshments are available on request, and our excellent Clerks always facilitate a quick and efficient service throughout the mediation process.

Fees

Our fees will depend upon a number of factors including, but not limited to :- 
1) The value and the complexity of the dispute  
2) The amount of preparation
3) The number of parties  
4) The likely length of the mediation. 

For an estimate of a relatively straightforward two party mediation please see the below:

Fee estimate for a ½ day mediation (9am – 1pm) 
£1,500plus VAT (£750 plus VAT per party) 

If the parties wish to continue and the mediator agrees, any time past the 4 hours will be billed pro rata at the hourly rate of £300 plus VAT (£150/h per party). 

Fee estimate for a 1 day mediation (9am – 5pm) 
£2,500 plus VAT (£1,250 plus VAT per party) 

If the parties wish to continue and the mediator agrees, any time after 5pm will be billed pro rata at the hourly rate of £300 plus VAT (£150/h per party). 

If the parties continue into the night, hotel or travel costs maybe incurred and this should be discussed and agreed at the time. The above fees include preparation, travel & expenses.  If the mediation continues past 5pm, time will be billed at hourly rates (above) on a pro-rata basis.
