Stephen joined KBG Chambers as a tenant in October 2024, after completing pupillage in Chambers under the supervision of James Jarvis.
During pupillage, Stephen assisted on a wide range of cases, including probate claims, planning matters, commercial disputes and property litigation. Property matters included equitable proprietary claims, covenant disputes, forfeiture, dilapidations, boundary disputes and landlord and tenant.
Stephen has already undertaken a wide range of court and paper-based work. He regularly appears in the County Court at all stages of proceedings. Stephen’s recent work includes:
- Successfully representing a local authority in the Employment Tribunal in its application to strike out a discrimination claim on merit grounds.
- Regular instructionsin personal injury and contractual disputes on the Fast Track.
- Representing a housing provider in possession proceedings defended on discrimination grounds.
- Representing a life tenant in a will trust dispute in the High Court.
- Various interim matters, including injunction and committal applications.
Stephen welcomes instructions in all of Chambers’ civil practice areas.
Stephen has an undergraduate degree in law from the University of Southampton and a master’s degree. Before coming to the Bar he worked as a caseworker for Citizens Advice and in a projects/policy role in local government, where he focused on public safety and environmental issues. Stephen obtained an ‘outstanding’ grade in the BPTC. Prior to pupillage Stephen worked as a County Court advocate.
