KBG offers its full support to Western Circuit Women's Forum

KBG Chambers offers a 12-month rent holiday for all members on maternity leave, as well as unparalleled support for returning mums which includes total flexibility over work, and mental health support where needed. We are proud to support working parents in every way we can.

We have countless members with young children, all of whom successfully manage their practise with full clerking support. This includes Charlotte Davies (2007) who juggles a busy practise, on top of two judicial appointments, as well as being a mum to two young children, and now five additional step-children. Charlotte, who spent many years as a single parent during her practise, says "There is no doubt that I went through an extraordinarily difficult time trying to hold everything together at home whilst progressing my career. The clerks at KBG were absolutely brilliant and fully supportive in every way, whether that be keeping my diary clear on certain days, knowing that I could not travel too far from home, and checking-in with me to make sure I was ok or if I needed anything at all. Without the exceptional support of KBG over that time, I doubt I would still be practising today. Even now, whilst things are much easier for me, I can easily book mornings out for class assemblies or parents' evenings, and I'm often asked well in advance if I need extra support around school holidays".

Charlotte sits on the steering committee of the Western Circuit Women's Forum who will this year be relaunching their mentoring programme for junior barristers on circuit. WCWF liaises with other organisations such as the Bar Council and CBA about policy and working practices, and with the KC Secretariat and Judicial Appointments Commission to ensure they can provide help with career progression.

KBG offers its full support to WCWF and its aims and we look forward to seeing how we can continue to help support returning mums back into practise and through those years combining raising children with a flourishing practise at the bar.
